Gurney Paragon Mall's Mid Autumn Celebration 2014 Penang


The Mid-Autumn Festival is an official harvest festival celebrated by Chinese and Vietnamese peoples. The festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar and Vietnamese calendar, during a full moon, which is in September or early October in the Gregorian calendar, within 15 days to the autumnal equinox.

This year, Gurney Paragon Mall is organizing a mooncakes fair which features an exquisite selection of mooncakes in baked skin and snow skin from the all-time favourite brands such as Kam Lun Tai, Casahana, The Baker’s Cottage, Leong Yin, Foh San, Fai Fong, Purple Cane, Canton-i and Hong Kong Mei- Xin.had showcasing at St. Jo (Level 1) and “Penang On 6” (Level 6). 

The promotion will be ongoing from 16 August 2014 until 8 September 2014. Shoppers with a minimum spending of RM 200 and above, in a single receipt, at any of their shopping outlets, can redeem a complimentary Leong Yin pastry’s mooncake (only valid from 5-7 September 2014).

It is Halal & vegetarian Mooncakes !!! All the mooncakes were blend in some tea to complement with the paste flavor, If you are bored with traditional mooncakes you can choose this for healthier, less sweet and some hints of tea flavor for a go this year :)

White Tea Purple Potato Lotus Paste, RM9.80/Pc. It is Light and delicate. 

Purple Tea, Dang Gui, Chinese wolfberry and assorted nuts paste, RM11.30/pc. It is like eating chinese herb but it is kind of interesting flavor for a mooncake.

Lunar Delight, RM17.50/pc. It is white coffee (Made from real coffee bean) with pure durian paste. When you cut it, strong durian aroma like durian kuih but when you taste the whole combination it is another story. Bitterness from the coffee cover most of the durian taste when you bite in, durian come after taste. The whole combination was perfectly balance. Highly recommended

Intense Wheatgrass Jujube Splendor, RM17.20/pc. Wheatgrass aromo at the skin with read dates paste. 

Ballad of the moon, RM17.20/pc. Custard paste with slated egg custard paste. It really taste like custard bun we had at dim sum :)
