The Opening of 55 Cafe at Lorong Stewart in Penang

More and more small, cozy and theme cafe is blooming in Penang. Feel like Penang is not only famous for it cheap hawker food anymore, now this whole new trend in Penang is conquering Penang heritage area. Here let me bring you to a new Heritage Cafe that replace the Kopi Cine Cafe, 55 Cafe & Restaurant. It is located along Lorong Stewar, behind the Goddess of Mercy Temple (One of the famous Penang heritage tour attraction).

They still maintain this old signboard cause the owner like the old design element it contain.

The outlook of 55 Cafe & Restaurant.

Clockwise: 1- The operating hour of the Cafe. 2- Opposite view of the 55 Cafe & Restaurant. 3, 4- Upstairs dinning area.

Below are the ambient of 55 Cafe & Restaurant.

Clockwise: 1- Caramel Hot Chocolate, RM10+. 2- The Chamomile Dream, RM9+. 3- Vanilla Ice Cream, Banana and Chocolate Chips Milkshake, RM16+. 4- There was your ice water, they put a whole lemon in the water to get the aroma of the lemon. Too bad they never clear the lemon properly so my water contain some dirt.

Clockwise: 1- Since it was the soft opening for 55 Cafe & Restaurant so we get a to try out their FREE tapas. 2- Aubergines (eggplant), Tomato and Garlic, RM9+. The eggplant was well grilled before blend. So if they don't tell you will never know that is a eggplant. This one was good. 3- Grilled Eggplant, RM9+. Another eggplant tapas with totally different flavor.  4- Chicken Liver Pate, RM14+. This tapas was first tried at Agua. I like here better cause not as creamy as Agua.

This was one of the best dish of the day, Gambas Aljillo, RM13+. Fresh prawn with pesto type of sauce, it taste SUPER GOOD until the last drop.

Al Chef, RM28+. It was actually pan fried Sea Bass fillet spaghetti.

Aglio Olio with Smoked Salmon, RM25+. This dish was on the expensive side cause there are only 2 little pieces of Smoked Salmon in the plate.

Spaghetti Carbonara, RM22+. It was a common dish that can find any place. I ordered this because i want to know how good a simple dish was cooked.

Which one i loved best? I will have to go for Spaghetti Carbonara.

Chocolate Coffee Cake, RM6+.

Baked Cheese Cake, RM9+. It was too expensive for such a small piece but i heard the boss had adjusted the pricing the portion of the cake. The cake taste OK.

Another Cheese cake was introduced by the lady boss was this. She planning to sell this at 55 Cafe & Restaurant.

This one definitely better then the previous cheese cake. Price should be higher then :)

Hot Latte, RM8+. They served really good Latte. I was told that both the boss is a coffee lover, so their vision is to sell the best coffee in Penang. I believe they do :)

Below are some shoots on the interior of the hotel. Price range is between RM300 ~ RM400.

Overall experience dinning at 55 Cafe & Restaurant was good but the pricing is average at RM50 per pax. I believe good food don't come cheap
